Caring for your silicone products

The amazing thing about silicone is how durable and versatile it is. This is a product that can go in your freezer and your oven without issue. However, you may notice a few things that can happen to your silicone things over time. Here is a bit of a go to guide to help fix some of those problems:

SILICONE HAS BECOME STAINED

Due to our high quality silicone our silicone products are pretty stain resistant. But they are not stain proof. Some foods like pasta sauce, curry or some fruits may leave a stain, especially if left on the silicone for an extended period of time. If this happens, we recommend a good wash with your favourite dishwashing detergent and leaving the tableware in the direct sunlight for a full day. The sun should bleach out any staining.

You can also make a paste of Bi-carb soda and white vinegar. Put the paste all over the silicone and let it dry, then rinse off thoroughly.

SILICONE HAS DEVELOPED A STRANGE TASTE

Sometimes your silicone tableware can retain oil from food or washing water. If the silicone suddenly starts to taste like soap or plastic it is due to an oily residue built up on the surface of the product. To fix this, cut a fresh lemon or lime in half and rub it over the whole surface of the plate. Then let the plate sit for at 10- 15 minutes.
